The Asia Pacific (Apac) Predator League 2025 officially opened today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Organized by technology company Acer, the tournament gathers 28 esports teams from 14 regions to compete in games like Dota 2 and Valorant for a total prize pool of $400,000.
“For the first time, Malaysia is hosting the Apac Predator League. This is not just a tournament but a platform that connects gamers across different levels,” said Andrew Hou, president of Acer Pan Asia Pacific.
The event introduces two animated characters, Nero and Yuffy, designed by regional artists. Their storyline reflects themes of rivalry and teamwork, embodying the competitive spirit of the Predator brand. Adding to the excitement, Acer has unveiled a theme song, “It Lies Within,” performed by artists in local languages to celebrate cultural diversity.
“We want this to be more than an esports event,” said Kon Tek Yoong, managing director of Acer Malaysia. “With special appearances by global and local performers, and on-site activities, we aim to showcase the vibrant community that esports fosters.”
Headliners Sandara Park and Minzy of K-pop group 2NE1, alongside Malaysian artists Aina Abdul and Hael Husaini, are performing at the event. A Coswalk competition and gaming experiences also invite attendees to immerse themselves in the dynamic world of esports.
Matches are held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), with the finals scheduled for Jan. 12. Teams are equipped with Predator gaming gear to enhance gameplay during the high-stakes tournament.
The total prize pool for the qualifiers and winners of the tournament is $400,000. The Apac Predator League 2025 Grand Finals will showcase 28 of the best esports teams from across the region, competing for the prestigious Predator Shield and a share of their tournament prize pool. The top four teams from each competition will receive prizes as follows: Champion – $65,000, 1st Runner-up – $20,000, and 2nd and 3rd Runners-up – $7,500 each. In addition to these prizes, special awards will be given to MVP players and All-Star team selections.
