Boomi, a provider of intelligent connectivity and automation solutions, believes that (artificial intelligence) AI agents, acting as virtual assistants, represent the next stage in AI’s evolution.
According to Boomi, many generative AI (GenAI) projects failed to achieve their potential due to poor data quality in 2023. By 2024, businesses began laying the groundwork for successful AI use, with an emphasis on responsible AI practices, improved data governance, and better integration of data and applications.
The company also noted that this year organizations invested in workforce skills to keep pace with AI developments.
“Businesses are focusing on real-world AI applications that align with their goals,” David Irecki, CTO and director of Solution Consulting for APJ for Boomi, said in a statement. “These efforts are scoped carefully to reduce risks while cutting through exaggerated claims about AI’s capabilities.”
He also emphasized the importance of moving beyond the hype to adopt practical and responsible AI strategies.
The predictions for 2025 suggest that organizations prioritizing high-quality data and robust governance will outperform their competitors. By leveraging generative AI and AI agents, businesses aim to deliver tailored customer experiences and speed up innovation.
The rise of AI agents
AI agents, acting as virtual assistants, represent the next stage in AI’s evolution. These tools are poised to operate autonomously in the future, making their governance essential. Boomi predicts that 2025 will see the emergence of AI governance platforms that will help organizations monitor and regulate their AI systems centrally.
“These tools will play a critical role in ensuring transparency and accountability,” Irecki said. “They’ll track the lifecycle of AI agents, manage their data usage, and provide clarity on their decision-making processes.”
With many users still wary of AI, transparency will be key to building trust. By focusing on ethical AI practices, organizations hope to restore confidence in these technologies and drive their adoption responsibly.
