The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) has launched new features for its PANaHON Alert System during the Typhoon and Flood Awareness Week (TFAW).
The PANaHON platform, part of the National Hydro-Met Observing Network, now offers gridded forecast integration. This allows users to view more accurate and location-specific data on rainfall, temperature, wind, and pressure.
The interactive map includes clickable grid points, a time-slider, and a search function that helps users find weather information for specific areas.
“These upgrades aim to improve public access to accurate weather information and support local planning, risk reduction, and disaster preparedness efforts nationwide,” the agency said in an advisory.
A key change in the platform is the integration of all regional weather warnings into a single, centralized alert system. These alerts are shown as color-coded markers that display complete hazard details when selected.
The system is designed to help users, especially communities, local governments, and emergency responders, prepare more effectively for weather-related events by making reliable information easier to find and understand.
