ePLDT, a subsidiary of PLDT specializing in ICT services, is broadening its digital solutions offerings with the latest partnership with Alibaba Cloud, adding to its roster of collaborators in the cloud segment.

With an enhanced multi-cloud portfolio that now includes Alibaba Cloud, ePLDT aims to provide solutions that would enable enterprise and public sector clients to accelerate their digital evolution.

By combining PLDT Group’s robust telecommunications and digital infrastructure with Alibaba Cloud’s technologies, the collaboration will allow ePLDT to offer cloud solutions focusing on computing, storage, and security to bolster local enterprises. Alibaba Cloud’s hybrid backup recovery and disaster recovery services provide an added layer of security for clients, ensuring their data’s safety in the cloud.

Multicloud strategy

“Customers with a multicloud strategy will have the opportunity to select the provider they believe best suits their business needs,” stated Gary Ignacio, chief commercial officer at VITRO Inc. “Our role is to ensure transparency and present these options to our customers. We prioritize solutions that align with their business requirements, offering the most cost-efficient platforms and facilitating rapid growth to fulfill their aspirations.”

Alibaba Cloud inaugurated a local data center in the Philippines in 2021, providing cloud technologies such as elastic compute services, database storage and backup, disaster recovery, security features, and capabilities in machine learning and data analytics.

The partnership aims to support the increasing interest of local enterprises in embracing cloud technology, as evidenced by an Alibaba Cloud-commissioned survey in 2023. The survey revealed that 85% of Philippine businesses intend to migrate fully to the cloud within two years, with over 90% planning to augment their cloud investments in 2023. This surge is driven by the booming local data center market and the government’s digitalization initiatives.
