Epson celebrated the 50th anniversary of its brand this June, recognizing five decades of technological development and the support of customers and partners who helped shape its growth.

Founded on the principles of “Integrity and Effort” and “Creativity and Challenge,” Epson has built a reputation as a trusted global brand through its focus on compact, efficient, and precise technologies. These values continue to guide the company in delivering products designed to support both industry needs and sustainability goals.

“Our goal has always been to create technologies that are efficient, compact, and precise, while reducing environmental impact,” said Masako Kusama, president and director of Epson Philippines Corp. “As we mark this milestone, we remain committed to advancing sustainable, energy-efficient solutions that empower industries and shape a better future.”

Epson’s roots in printing technology began in 1968 with the launch of the EP-101 digital electronic printer. This led to the creation of the Epson brand in 1975: “EP” for the printer and “SON” to reflect future innovations derived from it.

Since then, Epson has introduced a series of printing advancements. These include Micro Piezo technology in home printers, PrecisionCore printheads for industrial use, and the Monna Lisa 160B for digital textile printing. The company’s high-capacity ink tank printers, launched in 2010, have sold over 100 million units across 170 countries.

Beyond printing, Epson has also grown its presence in other fields. It developed liquid crystal technologies that improved projector image quality, leading to models such as the VPJ-700, ELP-3000, and EB-L25000U, the latter known for being the brightest 3LCD laser projector in its category at launch.

Epson’s work in industrial robotics has also gained global recognition. Its SCARA robots, equipped with sensors and camera-based recognition, have enabled high-precision tasks in manufacturing settings.

The company operates a global network of production and sales facilities, starting with watch case manufacturing in Singapore in 1968. Today, key sites in China, Indonesia, and the Philippines support its expanding international market.

Inspired by the nature of its home in Nagano, Japan, Epson says it will continue to prioritize quality, sustainability, and innovation as it looks to the future.
