Electronic Transfer & Advance Processing Inc. (eTap Inc.) is expanding access to digital financial services through a nationwide self-service network that connects cash-based communities to the digital economy.

Founded in 2015 by Percy Hernandez, chair, and Marlon Portugal, CEO, eTap has grown from a two-person fintech company into a financial infrastructure provider with more than 1,000 employees, over 70 offices, and a network of more than 7,000 self-service cash and transaction machines nationwide.

eTap’s growth shows the continuing role of “phygital” finance, where physical access points support digital transactions. While financial services have increasingly moved online, many Filipinos still rely on accessible locations where they can convert cash into digital payments and access essential services.

eTap’s self-service machines are deployed in locations such as supermarkets, pharmacies, convenience stores, and neighborhood businesses, extending payment access to areas where traditional banking infrastructure may be limited. The network has served more than 16 million unique customers, allowing users to pay bills, top up digital wallets, and complete other financial transactions.

For businesses, the network provides an alternative way to expand payment access without investing heavily in physical branches. More than 800 partner billers use eTap’s platform to support collections and improve customer access to payment services.

“The phygital economy is about creating a bridge between where people are today and where financial services are going,” eTap said.

As a registered Operator of Payment Systems (OPS), eTap continues to focus on security and reliability across its operations. The company holds ISO 27001:2022 certification for Information Security Management System, ISO 9001:2015 for Quality Management System, and ISO 27701:2019 for Privacy Information Management System.

The company is also strengthening its position beyond payments by providing an ecosystem that combines self-service hardware, software, and cash management support.

After 11 years of operations, eTap is positioning its network as part of the country’s evolving financial infrastructure, supporting broader access to digital services while recognizing that physical touchpoints remain important for millions of Filipinos.
