At the first “Web3 Con,” Anotoys Collectiverse founder and CEO Oscar Tan Abing Jr. unveiled his company’s plans to reshape how the world enjoys fandom through emerging web3 technologies. By pioneering an ecosystem that brings celebrities to the metaverse, Tan Abing aims to give fans from all over the world exciting new opportunities to connect with their favorite stars.
Web3 Con is the largest web3 and crypto conference in Southeast Asia to date, bringing together thousands of futurists, venture capitalists, innovators, fintech, and webtech aficionados from across the region. Its debut event hosted more than 20 guest speakers comprising some of the most influential thinkers in the web3 space.
In his keynote address, “Fandom, Celebrity, and Collectibles in Web3,” Tan Abing shared how the fandom around mainstream celebrities would play a crucial role in the widespread adoption of web3.

“As we gear towards mass adoption of Web3, more and more projects will depend on the celebrity effect to educate audiences and add credibility,” Tan Abing said. “A platform like ours, which is partnered with several A-list celebrities, will be a vital tool in reaching these projects’ goals.”
Celebrity fandom, Tan-Abing added, also presents unique opportunities in the collectibles industry — a space in which he’s had many years of experience. Prior to Anotoys Collectiverse, Tan Abing was the man behind Anotoys Collectibles, one of the Philippines’ largest sellers of pop culture collectibles.
With the advent of web3, Tan Abing recognized that he needed to pivot his collectibles business accordingly, and saw a chance to empower collectors through Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). Instead of simply being digital works of art, he wanted to create NFTs that allowed fans to celebrate their favorite stars in multiple interactive ways.
“These [NFTs] are already highly sought after on their own, but we also link them to multiple P2E (Play-to-Earn) games, plus virtual worlds for fans to enjoy,” he said in his address.
In early 2022, Tan Abing launched Anotoys Collectiverse, a complete web3-powered fandom ecosystem where collectors can buy, sell, and trade collectibles that unlock a variety of experiences both in the real world and in the metaverse.
Fans can, for example, get access to private concerts from their rockstars just by owning one of their NFTs. They can get digital versions of their superhero statuettes to display in their metaverse homes. They can play games on the Collectiverse Super-App and earn coins that can be used to buy more collectibles.
To kick-start the realization of this vision, Tan Abing signed several Filipino A-list celebrities onto the Anotoys Collectiverse NFT marketplace.
Local celebrities, however, are just the beginning. Tan Abing announced that Anotoys Collectiverse is poised to open up its ecosystem to stars all over the world, an ambition met with much applause at Web3 Con. Guests lined up at Anotoys’ exhibitor booth shortly after Tan Abing’s talk to explore the many opportunities that The Collectiverse presented abroad.
“We are overwhelmed with the reception and support of so many movers and shakers in the international Web3 community,” Tan Abing shared after his speech.
With the Anotoys Collectiverse ecosystem making its global debut, guests at Web3 Con were able to get a glimpse of the future of fandom. Thanks to the growing support of leaders in the international web3 space, fans around the world may be getting their first taste of the excitement sooner than they think.
