GAC introduced three new electric vehicle (EV) models at the 13th Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit (PEVS): the AION V, HYPTEC HT, and AION UT. The company also showcased its hybrid models, the M8 PHEV and EMKOO HEV, as part of its push to expand its electrified lineup in the country.
Under the theme “GAC Global Ecosystem — Leading a New Era of Green Mobility in the Philippines,” GAC launched the AION V and HYPTEC HT battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for the Philippine market and presented the AION UT, its global strategic model, for the first time in the country after its introduction in Thailand.
“Our localization strategy has been the cornerstone of our growth,” said Calvin Cheng, general manager of GAC International Philippines. “We are not just launching new models. We are also building long-term partnerships, creating jobs, and investing in the Philippine EV ecosystem. We see the Philippines as a key market in GAC’s Southeast Asia roadmap.”
AION V
The AION V is a long-range electric SUV for families and professionals. It is powered by GAC’s Magazine Battery 2.0, which is designed to resist fire even under direct impact. The vehicle offers a CLTC-rated range of 520 kilometers and supports DC fast charging that brings the battery from 30% to 80% in 16 minutes. It has a 2,775-millimeter wheelbase and suspension tuned for local road conditions to improve comfort and interior space.
HYPTEC HT
The HYPTEC HT is GAC’s flagship electric SUV featuring dual-stage gullwing doors, Nappa leather interiors, reclining rear seats, and a 14.6-inch high-definition infotainment display powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8155 chip. It uses a submarine-grade steel body and includes advanced safety features for added protection.
AION UT
The AION UT is aimed at younger, tech-savvy drivers and made its Philippine debut following its launch in Thailand, where it reached 1,000 deliveries within 39 days. The model is part of GAC AION, which has sold over one million EVs globally.
Hybrid additions
The M8 PHEV, a plug-in hybrid MPV, combines comfort and performance, while the EMKOO HEV features a high-efficiency hybrid engine designed for fuel economy.
GAC International Philippines announced an “Exclusive Launch Privilege Package” for buyers of the AION V or HYPTEC HT. For ₱999, customers can receive more than ₱99,999 worth of benefits, including a home charger, charging credits, and registration and insurance coverage.
