The VinFast VF 5, a compact electric crossover, is positioning itself as a practical choice for Filipinos considering their first electric vehicle (EV).
Part of VinFast’s expanding global lineup, the VF 5 has gained attention locally for combining modern technology, youthful design, and everyday usability. It is being marketed to first-time buyers, professionals, and young families seeking a compact and efficient vehicle for city use.
At just under four meters in length, the VF 5 is designed for urban settings, making it easier to maneuver in Metro Manila traffic, tight parking areas, and narrow streets. Despite its small footprint, the SUV provides a roomy interior with ample legroom and flexible cargo space, suitable for both daily routines and occasional trips.
The VF 5 is powered by a 100 kW (134 hp) electric motor with 135 Nm of torque, giving it enough capability for daily commutes and expressway driving. A full charge delivers up to 326 kilometers of range (NEDC), which can cover several days of city travel or a weekend drive to nearby provinces. For convenience, the vehicle supports fast charging, allowing a 10%- 70% charge in about 30 minutes.
Inside, the VF 5 features an 8-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, as well as keyless entry, push-start ignition, and cruise control. Safety features include six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, and blind-spot monitoring. A reinforced frame provides added protection, making it a practical option for families and solo drivers.
The vehicle’s design, created by Torino Design of Italy, highlights sharp lines, bold proportions, and a distinctive front fascia. Buyers can also choose from customizable two-tone color options, adding a stylish touch that appeals to younger drivers.

One of the main appeals of the VF 5 is its potential for savings. As an EV, it eliminates fuel costs and requires less maintenance than traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. With fuel prices continuing to rise, the VF 5 offers a cost-efficient alternative for Filipino motorists.
To support adoption, VinFast is offering free public charging at V-GREEN stations across the country until 2027. This incentive reduces the overall cost of ownership and addresses one of the concerns around EV use: charging access.
