Payment service provider GHL Systems Philippines Inc. (GHL Philippines) has partnered with Alipay+ to allow local businesses in the Philippines to accept digital payments from leading Asian mobile wallets.
This collaboration between GHL and Alipay+ will streamline cross-border payment processes for tourists, particularly those from Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, and mainland China, who can now use their home country mobile wallets such as AlipayHK, Kakao Pay, Touch ‘n Go eWallet, and Alipay for both face-to-face and e-commerce transactions within the Philippines.
This integration with Alipay+, a suite of cross-border mobile payment and digitalization solutions operated by Ant International, aims to make it easier for visitors to make payments using the e-wallet partners expanding their options beyond traditional cash or foreign-issued cards.
“This move will allow local businesses to reach a broader customer base,” said Jay Tirona, CEO of GHL Philippines.
“As tourists return to explore the Philippines, our goal is to empower more local merchants to tap into the tourism boom and engage with global users more effectively,” said Michael Hao, country manager for the Philippines, Ant International.
Alipay+, introduced by Ant International in 2020, now connects over 88 million merchants across 57 countries and regions to users of over 25 e-wallets and bank apps, enabling consumers to make payments effortlessly while traveling. Besides the Philippines, Alipay+ is widely accepted in other major travel destinations, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Europe, and the Middle East.
