Grab PH relaunches upskilling program for drivers, delivery riders together with Microsoft

Before the pandemic, Grab Philippines (Grab) offered a learning program to help drivers and delivery partners to develop new skills and learn to quickly adapt to the digital-first economy. It is now shifting the learning modules online. The partnership with Microsoft now brings GrabAcademy to the online platform allowing drivers and partners to learn at their own pace and time.

Grab and Microsoft developed six training and development programs with lessons on computer basics, online communication, and creating and managing responsible digital content, and even the basics of taxation and vehicle sanitation. The courses will be available in English and Filipino languages.

“Our GrabAcademy is a clear expression of our long-term commitment to the development and wellbeing of our partners, both within and beyond our platform, and we are blessed and excited to be with Microsoft on this journey,” said Grace Vera Cruz, country head, Grab Philippines. “Through this partnership, we hope to deliver these programs that will provide more holistic training support for our partners to help them become more competitive in a digital-first Philippines.”

The courses are anchored in GrabAcademy’s three pillars:

  • Safety across the platform will have lessons on proper food handling in partnership with Food Safety and Hygiene Academy of the Philippines (FoodSHAP)
  • Growing within the platform include refresher courses on the general code of conduct, driver-cancellation policy, and service quality standards.
  • Thriving beyond the platform will provide partners with courses on entrepreneurship.

“Embracing digital opportunities requires having the necessary digital skills,” said Andres Ortola, country manager, Microsoft Philippines. “This means empowering learning, supporting public policies for reskilling, and encouraging continuous improvements. Alongside the adoption of technology, we have to empower the individuals within our workforces and communities with the skills and knowledge they need today, and tomorrow.”

Grab driver- and delivery-partners will receive a Certificate of Completion upon accomplishing the GrabAcademy courses, which they can easily register for within their Grab Driver app.
