Green GSM, Southeast Asia’s first all-electric ride-hailing platform, was honored with the Green Leadership award at the Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2025, held in Bangkok.
Developed by Vietnam’s Green and Smart Mobility Joint Stock Company (GSM), the platform was recognized for its role in promoting sustainable transportation in Vietnam and introducing its green mobility model to more countries in the region.
Founded by Enterprise Asia in 2011, AREA is considered one of Asia’s respected award programs for sustainability, innovation, and corporate responsibility. This year’s theme, “A Necessary Shift to a Regenerative Economy,” underscored the call for businesses to create long-term positive impact.
Green GSM’s approach combines a company-owned electric fleet, a platform called Xanh SM that lets private VinFast EV owners join the service, and partnerships with traditional taxi firms converting to electric vehicles. These components form what the company describes as an “open ecosystem” to accelerate green mobility.
“We believe that a truly sustainable model only works when every individual within the ecosystem chooses to live green, work green, and serve their community with kindness and responsibility,” said Phan Thi Hong Dung, GSM’s director of Training and Culture Development.
Since launching two years ago, Green GSM has expanded to Laos, Indonesia, and the Philippines, completing more than 300 million rides and reducing an estimated 211,000 tons of CO₂ emissions. In Vietnam, it leads the electric taxi market with nearly 40% share and has partnered with almost 100 transport businesses to support electrification.
Green GSM launched operations in Metro Manila on June 10.
