Best Buddies Philippines (BBP) is conducting a Pre-Employment Program (PEP) until June 29, 2024, to enhance workplace inclusivity for individuals with IDD or intellectual or developmental disability.
This 12-session initiative offers exposure to diverse industries, internship placements, and job opportunities, aligning with BBP’s mission of uplifting the lives of those with intellectual and developmental diversities. PEP, launched on Dec. 27, 2023, equips individuals with IDD with essential skills and knowledge to succeed in competitive workplaces, fostering a more inclusive society.
BBP collaborates with 17 corporate, retail, and educational partners to promote inclusion and diversity. These partners, including Asurion, Primordium, and De La Salle Zobel School Counseling Office, support PEP’s objectives by advocating for inclusive hiring practices and raising awareness about accessibility.

“Studies around the world have shown that companies that employ persons with disabilities experience competitive advantages whether in terms of increased profits, greater productivity, or improved corporate culture. It’s encouraging to have Philippine-based companies explore the same possibilities with BBP,” said Rhodora Palomar-Fresnedi, chair of BBP.
Applicants undergo a screening process, including submission of resumes and cover letters, followed by interviews to assess their readiness for competitive employment. “The pre-employment training program will give me more self-confidence and independence for the outside world,” said Coji Benedicto, Best Buddies Philippines Ambassador and PEP participant. “Through this training, I want to learn more about the work environment and develop new skills. I’m expecting to complete this training by June 29.”
