Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has announced the appointment of Walter So as the new managing director for HPE Philippines. So steps into his role with years of experience across various sectors, including cloud computing and enterprise software.
Walter So‘s career in IT began at IBM, where he spent 11 years ascending through the ranks beginning in sales and moving to management roles. He became the general manager of Global Technology Services, overseeing key initiatives in hybrid cloud, digital workplace, and cybersecurity before he moved to VMware.
After his tenure at IBM, So joined VMware as the country manager for the Philippines. He led VMware’s operations in the country for four years, guiding the company through significant growth until its acquisition by Broadcom Software in 2022. Following this, he took on the role of country leader for the Philippines and Vietnam at Broadcom Software, where he managed operations and business strategies for the region.
So holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Engineering, with a minor in Finance, from Ateneo de Manila University. His educational background and extensive professional experience have equipped him with a broad understanding of technology and business management.
In his new position at HPE Philippines, So will be responsible for steering the company’s local operations, driving business growth, and fostering customer relationships. His leadership is expected to play a pivotal role as HPE continues to deliver innovative technology solutions and services in the region.

His expertise in these areas is anticipated to bolster HPE’s strategic initiatives and market presence in the Philippines.
