Cisco has been named as the No. 1 Wireless LAN (WLAN) vendor in the Philippines by global market intelligence research group International Data Corp. (IDC). In the Q2 2021 release of IDC’s Quarterly WLAN Tracker, it was revealed that Cisco has a 40% market share in the Enterprise WLAN segment in the country.

“From a geographic perspective, the enterprise WLAN market saw growth across all regions of the world, and growth was particularly strong in Asia,” IDC said in its media advisory.

In the Philippines, Cisco’s market share in the enterprise WLAN segment increased by 2.8 percentage points year over year (YoY), bringing its total share to 40% in Q2 2021, according to IDC.

“Cisco has been a wired and wireless LAN leader for the past six years, as we deliver a broad portfolio of wireless solutions,” said Robin Llamas, OIC, managing director, Robin Llamas.`

Cisco’s wireless technology is also a critical component in programs built to ensure safe spaces amid the ongoing pandemic and to assist in the country’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution program. Through its Ugnayan2030 program, a 10-year commitment to advocate for a digitally resilient Philippines, Cisco is also servicing the Philippine government for its national wireless-fidelity (Wi-Fi) rollout.

IDC’s tracker provides insights into consumer trends and product details across the WLAN market. As reported by IDC, “Cisco Philippines’ rolling market share averaged 35% from Q3 2020 to Q2 2021, though its revenue decreased by 6.2% year over year in Q2 2021.” Cisco’s WLAN is currently being used by top companies in the Philippines and is prominent in the business processing outsourcing sector, as well as the academe.

“Our technology is designed for flexibility between different applications and components, which has allowed us to work with small to large businesses across all industries,” Llamas shared.

In 2020, a WLAN Access Infrastructure Report by US research and consultancy firm, Gartner Inc. emphasized that Cisco’s flexibility is granted by a programmable architecture and is supported by a geographically diversified operation.

“The market share leader also leverages its investments in new chips and operating system development across its entire portfolio,” Gartner Inc. said.

Overall, Cisco’s WLAN supports a vast range of business-focused wireless networks from the most basic to today’s most demanding high-density environments.
