Ride-hailing platform inDrive has received the Philippines Technology Excellence Award for AI in Transportation at the Asian Technology Excellence Awards 2025.

The award recognizes inDrive’s work in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to improve fairness, transparency, and inclusivity in urban mobility.

“We are deeply honored to receive the Technology Excellence Award for AI – Transportation,” said Mark Tolley, director for Asia Pacific of inDrive. “This recognition is not just about inDrive’s technology, it’s about the people behind every innovation and to whom it was made for. This inspires us to improve our services and to use AI to amplify user autonomy, ensure fairness, and create safer, more transparent experiences for both our passengers and partner drivers.”

In the Philippines, where commuters are sensitive to fare costs and clear pricing, inDrive applies a human-centric AI model. Instead of fixed pricing, its system helps with order matching, adherence to government fare regulations, and route optimization, while still allowing passengers and drivers to agree on final fares.

AI also supports other features of the inDrive app. These include predictive demand algorithms, traffic-sensitive route planning, automated support routing, and photo-control systems to verify vehicle condition. Recently, inDrive also integrated AI-powered instant translation to reduce miscommunication between passengers and drivers across different Philippine languages and dialects.

“To many, AI is a strong tool to improve efficiency. At inDrive Philippines, we see it as a driver of fairness and opportunity,” said Sofia Guinto, business development head of inDrive Philippines. “This recognition underscores our commitment to making transportation and mobility more accessible and fair to all.”
