Instructure, known for its Canvas LMS, has launched Intelligent Insights, a new (artificial intelligence) AI-powered analytics product designed to provide educational institutions with advanced self-service reporting capabilities. This is available through the new Analytics Hub.

Intelligent Insights integrates seamlessly with Canvas, enabling users to customize criteria to identify students needing extra support, evaluate course readiness, understand LTI usage, and generate complex reports quickly using the “Ask Your Data” conversational AI feature.

“This new analytics offering is not just about data analysis; it enables institutions to act swiftly and effectively on data-driven insights, fostering a more engaging and effective educational environment,” said Shiren Vijiasingam, chief product officer at Instructure.

The product aims to enhance teaching and learning outcomes by automating traditionally manual tasks securely and effectively. Its user-friendly dashboards support ad-hoc and custom reporting, allowing administrators to alert educators when students fall below certain thresholds, monitor LTI app usage, and ensure courses meet required standards.

By automating reporting and monitoring, Intelligent Insights gives educators more time to build relationships with students, facilitating personalized learning experiences. A 2023 study found that 92% of faculty rated “adequate prep time” as crucial instructional support, and 76% emphasized the importance of technology tools, such as AI and analytics, for their teaching impact. Intelligent Insights addresses these needs with real-time solutions, enabling the implementation of best practices previously considered too costly or time-consuming.

Key features of Intelligent Insights include an intuitive AI that simplifies data querying with natural language, proactive monitoring of indicators to support students requiring additional help, assessing course preparedness for consistent, high-quality education delivery, and providing insights into third-party tool utilization for better resource management.
