Cybersecurity and digital privacy company Kaspersky appointed Simon Tung as its new general manager for ASEAN and Asia Emerging Countries, in October. He will lead the company’s strategy and operations across the region as organizations face more complex cybersecurity risks.
Based in Singapore, Tung will handle commercial operations, business development, and go-to-market plans. His priorities include growing the business, strengthening partnerships, and improving how the company delivers its cybersecurity solutions to customers and partners.
“My focus will be on translating our global expertise into local impact, which means investing deeply in our team, strengthening our partner ecosystem, and ensuring our solutions address the unique challenges businesses face here,” said Simon Tung, GM for ASEAN and AEC at Kaspersky.
Kaspersky said Tung’s appointment comes as Southeast Asia experiences rapid digital growth and an increase in sophisticated cyberthreats.
“The combination of the region’s digital ambition and persistent cyber risks, from targeted ransomware against critical infrastructure to financial phishing, creates a powerful imperative for our mission here,” said Adrian Hia, managing director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky. “We are investing heavily in the region over the next three years to strengthen our presence, deepen our partnerships, and expand our solutions across the region.”
Hia noted that Tung brings an expert blend of strategic vision and on-the-ground execution experience.
“I trust that under his leadership, we will not only achieve our business objectives but also significantly enhance the region’s cyber resilience,” he said.
Tung has more than 30 years of experience in the technology sector. He previously held leadership roles at Crayon, Microsoft, and SAP, where he focused on business transformation, revenue growth, and developing new business models.
He holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Adelaide in Australia. He is a Chartered Certified Accountant with ACCA in the United Kingdom and has an SMU-SID Accredited Diploma in Directorship from Singapore Management University.
