E-commerce platform Lazada Philippines has marked 2024 as a year of innovation, citing growth fueled by new AI-driven features and enhanced e-commerce services. These efforts culminated in a record-breaking 11.11 Biggest Sale of the Year.

“We started out the year with a commitment to deliver the best price and best experience, and we are proud of the ways we’ve been able to improve and bring more value to our buyers, sellers, and the broader ecosystem,” said Carlos Barrera, CEO of Lazada Philippines.

During the 11.11 sale, the platform’s AI chatbot, Lazzie, improved customer interactions, boosting engagement nine times compared to typical days. The company also introduced tools such as image-based search, virtual try-ons, and a skin analyzer to enhance the shopping journey.

Shoppers benefited from personalized recommendations powered by Generative AI, which analyzed product reviews and provided tailored suggestions.

“With the promising growth of e-commerce in our market, we are staying focused on helping more Filipinos live convenient, tech-enabled lives,” Barrera said.

Lazada’s report, developed with Kantar Profiles, found that 80% of Southeast Asian users engage with AI tools weekly, and over 90% trust AI for product recommendations and summaries.

Lazada in the Philippines

In the Philippines, Lazada expanded operations in the Visayas and Mindanao regions while growing programs like LazPayLater and Lazada Seller Loans. Its LazAffiliates program also surpassed one million members, offering creative income opportunities.

This year’s sale events also incentivized shoppers with P22 million in LazCoins, leading to a 250% rise in Coins and Games users. New app games, such as Big Win Plus and Color Game, contributed to this surge.
