Mapúa University’s School of Health Sciences has strengthened its partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) to offer health-related courses designed for Filipino students interested in healthcare careers.
These include Bachelor of Science degrees in Pharmacy, Biology, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, Radiologic Technology, and Psychology. The collaboration aims to give students a broader learning experience and practical exposure to global healthcare systems.
“With deep roots in engineering, we want to unite technology and health sciences, transforming the education of future healthcare practitioners and making a positive impact on the healthcare industry,” said Lemmuel Tayo, dean of the School of Health Sciences.
Since 2022, Mapúa and ASU have been working together to help students become globally prepared and digitally equipped for careers in healthcare. The Student Global Experience (SGE) program provides international learning opportunities, while microcredential programs offer short, focused training that can enhance job readiness.
Industry partnerships and modern facilities
Students also gain practical experience through a partnership with Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. (AC Health), allowing them to train at Healthway Medical Network’s outpatient clinics. The network also provides scholarships to qualified students.
Mapúa’s Makati campus houses the Human Health Learning and Innovation Center. It features simulation rooms and digital tools that support hands-on learning. The school promotes teamwork across programs and encourages students to learn from faculty members who are active professionals in their fields.
Digital learning and artificial intelligence are integrated into the curriculum to help students gain a competitive edge. The institution also focuses on student development through its “Student Journey” initiative, which supports students throughout their academic life.
Backed by the Yuchengco Group of Companies and Ayala Corp., Mapúa’s health sciences program combines strong industry support with nearly 100 years of academic tradition.
