Mapúa University, a technological institution, has introduced its School of Medicine, aiming to produce globally competent medical professionals equipped to tackle modern healthcare challenges. The initiative is a partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), known for its innovative programs.

“We are empowering the next generation of healthcare professionals to lead with innovation,” said Dr. Malaya Santos, Dean of the School of Medicine. “Our collaboration with Arizona State University enables us to provide students with interprofessional training, global exposure, and access to cutting-edge technology like AI and advanced immersive facilities.”

The program focuses on addressing gaps in the Philippine healthcare system, including limited access to medical facilities and a low doctor-to-patient ratio. Students will benefit from digital simulation labs, virtual patients, and augmented reality, enhancing clinical competencies in real-world scenarios.

Mapúa’s collaboration with ASU and local organizations, such as De Los Santos Medical Center and AC Health, provides students with opportunities for internships, exchange programs, and research projects. These initiatives aim to prepare them for both local and international healthcare environments.

Innovation

“Introducing the Mapúa University School of Medicine is a significant milestone for the university as the school helps improve access to world-class healthcare education,” said Dr. Dodjie Maestrecampo, President of Mapúa University. “These efforts symbolize our mission to mold learners who can positively impact communities both here and abroad.”

Admissions for the School of Medicine’s inaugural academic year, 2024–2025, are now open, with the program designed to integrate technology and community-focused solutions into medical training.
