Metropolitan Bank & Trust Co. (Metrobank) reported ₱24.9 billion in net income and ₱3.9 trillion in consolidated assets in the first half of 2026, giving the bank more room to lend, invest in technology, and support customers amid economic uncertainty.

The results come as Metrobank marks its 64th anniversary in September. The bank said its capital, available cash, and measures against possible losses remain healthy, allowing it to continue serving consumers and businesses under changing market conditions.

“Over the past 64 years, we have seen our customers navigate many periods of change and uncertainty,” said Fabian Dee, president, Metrobank. “Today is no different. There are challenges ahead that we have to be prepared for, but Metrobank enters this environment with discipline, well-supported by our capital, liquidity, and risk buffers to help us navigate uncertainty and continue supporting our customers.”

“Our financial strength allows us to continue lending, investing in our capabilities, and supporting our customers through different market conditions. Ultimately, we believe a bank becomes stronger when the people and businesses it serves become stronger, too,” he said.

Metrobank’s financial position allows it to extend credit to companies, finance customers’ major purchases and other needs, protect deposits, and spend on technology, security, and employee development.

The bank has also expanded its digital services as more Filipinos manage their money online. Customers can open an eSavings account and access online time deposits, unit investment trust funds, and government securities through Metrobank’s digital channels.

For businesses, Metrobank offers loans, cash management services, investment products, and market information. These services are meant to help companies meet daily expenses and fund expansion plans.

The bank has also stepped up its financial education and security programs. Its Earnest financial mindfulness advocacy and Moneygurado docuseries cover saving, investing, debt management, and financial security. Metrobank said it continues to add safeguards that give customers more control over their accounts.

The Asian Banker has named Metrobank the Strongest Bank in the Philippines for five consecutive years since 2021. It also recognized Metrobank as the Best Managed Bank for 2025.

Metrobank opened its first branch in Binondo in 1962. Beyond banking, it supports education, health, livelihood, the arts, and community development through the Metrobank Foundation, the GT Foundation, and programs such as Metrobank Foundation Outstanding Filipinos and Metrobank Art & Design Excellence.
