Tech giant Microsoft and its subsidiary LinkedIn, a professional network, will soon release the 2025 Work Trend Index, offering a closer look at how artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the way people work.

The report, which builds on last year’s study, will explore AI adoption, workforce changes, and leadership roles, with a focus on the Philippine market.

In 2024, the index found that employees were using AI faster than companies could keep up. Around 86% of knowledge workers had already used AI at work, while 79% of business leaders said AI was key to staying competitive. However, more than half of them said their companies had no clear AI plan.

Many Filipino workers now bring their own AI tools to work, a trend called “Bring Your Own AI,” or BYOAI. This has raised concerns over data security and compliance. Some workers also avoid telling their managers about their AI use, fearing they may seem replaceable.

AI early adopters

“Filipinos are among the early users of AI in Southeast Asia,” said Peter Maquera, CEO of Microsoft Philippines. “By embracing AI and investing in workforce upskilling, we can position the country as a global hub for AI-driven industries.”

The report also notes that AI is changing hiring. About 70% of Filipino leaders said they wouldn’t hire someone without AI skills. Many professionals are adding AI-related skills to their LinkedIn profiles, especially those in marketing and design.

The 2025 Work Trend Index will be released later this month along with Philippine data. It will highlight how AI helps with daily tasks, how leaders can build stronger AI strategies, and how training programs can prepare workers for AI-related jobs.
