mWell, the digital healthcare arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC), has launched the mWell Health ID, a digital health identity that allows Filipinos to carry their medical records through the mWell app.

The Health ID acts as a secure digital passport containing health records, lab results, prescriptions, vaccination history, and emergency contacts. It comes with consent and privacy features that let patients share their information with doctors, hospitals, and partner clinics without paperwork.

“Healthcare is a basic human right,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, chair of mWell and chair, president, and CEO of MPIC. “The mWell Health ID is a crucial step toward universal healthcare, which envisions allowing all Filipinos to move through their health journeys with security and peace of mind.”

“Our mWell digital Health ID empowers patients with a secure, seamless, and privacy-first way to manage their health records across healthcare facilities,” said Chaye Cabal-Revilla, president and CEO of mWell and chief finance, risk, and sustainability officer of MPIC.

The digital ID simplifies registration at clinics and hospitals by removing the need for repeated forms. It also enables medical history, such as prescriptions and lab results, to be accessible across facilities, which can help reduce duplicate tests and guide doctors in making informed decisions.

“Interoperability of health records has always been one of the biggest challenges in our healthcare system,” said Dr. Raymond Sarmiento, chief operating officer of mWell. “By putting health records in the hands of every Filipino, we create stronger connections between patients and providers.”

The initiative supports the Universal Health Care Act (Republic Act 11223), which seeks to make quality healthcare more accessible. Through the app, patients can consult doctors anytime, get e-prescriptions and lab referrals, and share records when needed.

mWell also provides hospital and clinic management tools, online booking through HealthHub, and on-site care in Cavite. In partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology, it has deployed mobile clinics, drone medicine delivery, and telemedicine services to reach underserved communities.
