PLDT is advocating for broader 5G adoption in the Philippines, emphasizing the potential for growth and innovation at Ericsson’s Imagine Live 2024 event. The company sees significant opportunities in monetizing 5G technology and unlocking advanced use cases through enhanced connectivity.

“We have done quite a bit of work to expand our 5G network but there is still so much opportunity ahead,” Manuel V. Pangilinan, chair and CEO of PLDT, said during his keynote address. “We are seeing the prices of 5G devices coming down. That’s an important development for us.”

Pangilinan emphasized the need for PLDT to remain adaptable to changing demands.

“We must stay current and deliver the services our customers require,” he said.

He outlined the importance of providing reliable, seamless connections, whether for students in online classes, doctors conducting teleconsultations, or travelers navigating new cities.

He also stressed the significance of looking beyond technical features and focusing on broader goals. Pangilinan encouraged a forward-thinking approach, imagining future networks integrated with artificial intelligence (AI) to offer more than just speed — networks that are intelligent, adaptable, and serve as platforms for innovation.

PLDT’s vision for the future includes creating ecosystems that not only connect people but also enable new industries and services. By doing so, the company aims to position its networks as a foundation for innovation and progress.
