The partnership between PLDT Enterprise, the corporate arm of the telecommunications company PLDT Inc., and Cisco will enable enterprises to seamlessly integrate Private 5G technology into their existing infrastructure. 

By joining forces, Cisco and PLDT Enterprise aim to fast-track the deployment of critical Industry 4.0 capabilities, including functionalities such as push-to-talk, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), always-connected PCs for frontline workers, and machine vision applications for predictive maintenance and safety enhancements.

“With Private 5G as-a-service, we are helping businesses to reduce the technical, financial, and operational risks associated with managing 5G networks, so they can focus on driving business agility and efficiency,” said  Jonathan Davidson, executive vice president and general manager, Cisco Networking.

This initiative aims to empower businesses to unlock the full potential of 5G, leveraging their current LAN, WAN, and cloud setups for enhanced security, policy enforcement, and device management.

The collaboration will prioritize specific customer-centric use cases, focusing on improving computer vision for precise product quality analysis, refining predictive analytics to optimize manufacturing operations, and integrating autonomous vehicles to streamline factory floor processes.

Internet of Things

Drawing upon PLDT’s Internet of Things (IoT) solutions, these joint initiatives aim to drive operational efficiency, foster innovation, reduce costs, and boost the overall success of businesses embarking on digital transformation journeys.

 “Our commitment is rooted in introducing cutting-edge capabilities and services, empowering our customers in their journey to digitally transform and modernize their businesses,” said Jojo Gendrano, senior vice president and head of Enterprise Business Group at PLDT and Smart. 

Under the agreement, PLDT Enterprise will oversee network infrastructure design, deployment, operations, use case development, device sourcing, compatibility, and end-to-end testing for Cisco Private 5G.
