Roblox, a video gaming platform for gaming and creation, plans to help more developers in Southeast Asia and Oceania use its tools to build games and digital experiences, reach wider audiences, and earn revenue.

Roblox appointed Joel Neoh as managing director, Southeast Asia and Oceania, to oversee its business across both regions. Neoh joined in October and will work with local teams and partners to support creators and match Roblox’s products and business plans with local needs.

“We have an opportunity to help a new generation of creators across Southeast Asia and Oceania turn ideas into experiences, communities and businesses that can reach the world,” Neoh said.

Neoh noted that keeping young people safe and working with parents, regulators, and local communities would remain central to the company’s growth.

His role includes helping local studios use Roblox’s development tools to expand their businesses. He will also build partnerships and help players and parents better understand the platform.

, said the company would continue investing in its regional operations.

“We are committed to the region for the long term, and we will keep investing in our local teams, creators, and partners here,” said Zhen Fang, VP of International at Roblox.

Fang cited Neoh’s two decades of experience building businesses and his ties to the local technology community as reasons for his appointment.

Neoh’s background covers digital media, e-commerce, fintech, consumer health, and artificial intelligence. He founded GroupsMore in Malaysia, which merged with Groupon before its initial public offering, and later led Groupon Asia Pacific.

He also founded Fave, a popular Southeast Asian fintech and consumer payments platform that reached more than 10 million users before Pine Labs acquired it in 2021. Most recently, he was managing director at Prenetics, leading its consumer health businesses.

Neoh has invested in more than 50 startups across Asia. He is also a founding partner of First Move, an early-stage venture capital platform supporting entrepreneurs across Southeast Asia, and was an investor involved in launching IM8.
