Security Bank has announced a leadership transition in its Wholesale Banking Segment (WBS) following the departure of John Cary Ong, who has stepped down as head of the segment.
Ong was part of Security Bank’s leadership team and played a role in expanding the bank’s wholesale banking business, which serves corporate clients, commercial enterprises, and institutional customers.
“John has made meaningful contributions to our wholesale banking business, and we thank him for his leadership and service. We wish him every success in his future endeavors,” said Victor Lee, president and CEO of Security Bank.
During the transition period, Lee will directly oversee the Wholesale Banking Segment while working closely with key business leaders across the organization.
Supporting the transition are Hirofumi Umeno, head of Alliance Segment; Yvonne Marcelo, head of Corporate Banking; Jorge Lindley Ong, head of Commercial Banking; and Virgilio Chua, president and CEO of Security Bank Capital.
Security Bank said the combined leadership experience of the executives will help maintain business continuity and support ongoing operations within the wholesale banking division.
The Wholesale Banking Segment is a key business unit for Security Bank, providing financial services such as lending, cash management, trade finance, and investment banking solutions to businesses and institutions. The segment contributes to the bank’s efforts to expand relationships with corporate and commercial clients in the Philippines.
The bank did not announce a permanent replacement for Ong or provide details regarding the timing of a new appointment.
