E-commerce platform Shopee, together with SPX Express, delivered relief supplies to communities affected by the eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.

Following the eruption, which produced coarse ashfall and sulfur dioxide emissions, over 4,000 residents were forced to evacuate the areas surrounding the volcano. The region is maintained at Alert Level 2, with sulfur dioxide emissions affecting the communities.

In response to the disaster, Shopee Bayanihan provided crucial aid to victims in the municipalities of La Carlota, Bago, La Castellana, and Pontevedra. The assistance, delivered with the help of logistics partner SPX Express, reached twelve barangays and 2,000 residents. These residents received food packs, water, and face masks to address their most pressing needs.

Shopee also collaborated with GMA Kapuso Foundation and Caritas Manila to call for donations through the Shopee app. Users could contribute by purchasing donation vouchers, which directly benefited the partner humanitarian organizations.

Shopee Bayanihan continues to evolve as a multifaceted program through partnerships with like-minded organizations, aiming to address the ever-changing needs of Filipinos. Each initiative under Shopee Bayanihan reinforces Shopee’s mission of harnessing technology to support communities in need.
