E-commerce platform Shopee and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) faciliated the onboarding of halal food sellers onto Shopee’s platform through a webinar held recently.
Shopee aims to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by enabling the online accessibility of halal products for both sellers and consumers. Halal food products adhere to Islamic dietary laws, following specific production processes. Easy access to these items is crucial for individuals with religious obligations and those who prefer ethically sourced food.
“At Shopee, we are dedicated to fostering inclusivity for our sellers and consumers,” said Vincent Lee, head of Shopee Philippines. “Our collaboration with the DTI to onboard halal food sellers aligns with our commitment to supporting MSMEs and providing diverse options for our users. This is another step towards empowering businesses of all kinds and sizes to thrive in the digital economy.”
