PLDT Inc., its wireless arm Smart Communications Inc., and Globe are offering free calls, texts, and data to customers in areas affected by heavy rains and floods caused by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon.
The companies said the free services aim to help people keep in touch with family and access important updates during bad weather.
PLDT and Smart subscribers in Angono, Bataan, Bulacan, Cainta, Las Piñas, Marikina, Mindoro, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Pasig, Tarlac, Taytay, and Zambales can now use free calls, text messages, and data. Customers can also call the Smart Cares Crisis Hotline at +63288457799 to reach loved ones and receive safety information. PLDT and Smart urged the public to follow official advisories and stay safe.
Globe said its Prepaid and TM customers will get free unlimited calls and texts to all networks, plus 100MB of open data and another 100MB for apps like Facebook and Viber, valid for one day. Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi users in affected areas can use 5GB of free data for three days, while GFiber Prepaid subscribers get a three-day promo extension.
Postpaid customers of Globe and GFiber will also get extended payment deadlines to lessen their worries while dealing with the situation.
Globe encouraged customers to help with ongoing relief work by donating through its platforms. People with Globe Rewards points can send donations to the Ayala Foundation’s Hapag Movement using the GlobeOne app. GCash users can also donate through the app’s QR code or donation feature.
Both telcos said they remain ready to assist customers and support recovery efforts in the coming days.
