Vertiv, a provider of critical digital infrastructure and continuity solutions, announced leadership changes in its technology organization as chief technology officer Stephen Liang prepares to retire after more than 30 years with the company.

Liang will step down from his role on Jan. 1, 2026. He has played a key role in defining Vertiv’s technology direction, beginning with his early work at Emerson and continuing through Vertiv’s growth and transformation. Earlier this year, he transitioned to focus exclusively on his CTO duties, leading the company’s technology strategy and innovation efforts.

“Stephen’s contributions to Vertiv have been far-reaching throughout his tenure, and he has played an essential role in defining and driving our technology strategy and innovation agenda,” said Gio Albertazzi, CEO of Vertiv. “His leadership has been instrumental in positioning Vertiv as a technology innovator in our industry, and his legacy will continue to influence our future success.”

Succeeding Liang, Scott Armul will take on the expanded role of chief product and technology officer effective Jan. 1, 2026. Armul, who will also retain his position as executive vice president of global portfolio and business units, was promoted to that post earlier in 2025.

In his new capacity, Armul will oversee the Technology Office alongside his current responsibilities for engineering, research and development, and Vertiv’s portfolio of business units. The realignment is designed to strengthen the link between technology development and business strategy, supporting Vertiv’s goal of addressing evolving customer requirements.

Armul joined Vertiv in 2009 and has since held various technical, leadership, and customer-focused roles. The company said his appointment is part of its ongoing commitment to developing internal talent and maintaining a high-performance culture that enables growth and innovation.
