On Feb. 5, 2025, leaders of digital payments processor Visa met with officials from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to discuss ways to increase access to financial services and prevent payment fraud.
The meeting included Stephen Karpin, regional president of Visa Asia Pacific; Arturo Planell, group country manager for Southeast Asia; and Jeffrey Navarro, country manager of Visa Philippines. They met with BSP Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat and officials from BSP’s Regional Operations and Advocacy Sector and Payments and Currency Management Sector.
The group discussed how to make financial services more accessible to Filipinos. They also talked about strategies for preventing fraud and protecting consumers in the digital space.
“We’re committed to working closely with BSP to help Filipinos gain more access to financial tools, and to ensure their safety in digital payments,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Country Manager of Visa Philippines.
Visa hopes its partnership with BSP will lead to more innovation and better inclusion in the country’s financial system.
“We look forward to more collaboration with Visa to further advance financial inclusion for all Filipinos,” said Romulo-Puyat.
