WWDC25: Apple previews iOS 26 with refreshed design, smarter features

WWDC Apple previews iOS 26 with refreshed design, smarter features - Back End News

Apple has introduced iOS 26, bringing a fresh look, smarter tools, and upgrades to many of the apps people use every day. The new design keeps iOS easy to use while offering a more colorful and modern feel across the system.

Apple’s new “Liquid Glass” material gives app icons, widgets, and navigation a clear, glass-like look that reflects the surroundings. This change also extends to the Home and Lock Screens, which now offer more ways to personalize the appearance of apps and widgets.

With Apple Intelligence integrated more deeply into iOS 26, users can now enjoy smarter suggestions and tools built to protect privacy. Apple said the new system helps reduce distractions, like blocking unwanted calls in the Phone and Messages apps.

Child Accounts

The update also includes new features in CarPlay, Maps, Wallet, and Apple Music. A new app, Apple Games, gives players a central place to find and launch their games.

For families, iOS 26 improves how parents manage Child Accounts. They can now set up or move children into managed profiles more easily, with more control over who can contact them. FaceTime will blur sensitive content, and Shared Albums will also filter photos that may not be safe for children.

In Safari, private browsing now includes stronger fingerprinting protection, which helps prevent websites from tracking users without permission.

New accessibility tools include Accessibility Reader for personalized reading and Braille Access for users who connect braille displays to their iPhones. Apple has also updated Live Listen, Background Sounds, and Personal Voice to better support users with different needs.

Apple said iOS 26 will be available later this year.
