The YGG Play Summit, held in Manila, brought together over 7,000 gaming enthusiasts from the Philippines and around the world to celebrate Web3 gaming. The event emphasized the role of content creators in shaping the industry’s future, showcasing their ability to connect gamers, brands, and audiences through engaging narratives and educational content.
“In Web3, there are the builders, there are the gamers, and there are the creators,” said YellowPanther, co-founder of Gaming Grid and GAM3S.GG 2024 Content Creator of the Year. “Creators are especially important because they are the front-facing people who keep the gaming space alive. They provide not just entertainment but also educational value.”
The summit’s diverse activities included esports tournaments, game demos, and panels led by prominent creators like Sedano and Excelsor. YGG’s educational arm, Web3 Metaversity, hosted a Creator Masterclass to guide aspiring creators on building authenticity and producing engaging content tailored for Web3 audiences.
“Creators drive awareness and engagement and play a pivotal role in shaping the narratives and communities that fuel the web3 gaming industry’s growth,” said Sam Steffanina, co-founder of WolvesDAO and GAM3S.GG 2023 Content Creator of the Year.
The event also premiered “Metaverse Filipino Worker,” a short film showcasing the potential of Web3 as a viable career path for Filipinos. A collaborative coding marathon, the Game Jam, drew 35 teams competing for a ₱500,000 prize pool, while a cosplay competition highlighted the creativity of participants like Izaiah Buelos, who won ₱35,000.
Through discussions, films, and competitions, the YGG Play Summit demonstrated how creators drive Web3 adoption and innovation. Their efforts continue to bridge the gap between digital and physical experiences, making Web3 gaming more accessible and engaging for global audiences.
