Zoom Communications Inc. (Zoom) announced AI Companion 3.0 at its annual Zoomtopia 2025 conference, presenting new agentic AI features across Zoom Workplace and Zoom Business Services.

The updated AI Companion is designed to help users manage tasks, extract insights from meetings and documents, and generate content using both internal and external data sources. The tool works across Zoom’s platform and integrates with third-party applications, allowing users to organize conversations, documents, and shared resources into actionable information.

New features include improved note-taking for paid Zoom Workplace users. Notes can now be generated not only for Zoom meetings but also for in-person sessions and meetings held on other platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and WebEx. The AI can summarize discussions, highlight action items, and recommend follow-up tasks.

AI Companion 3.0 also introduces proactive skills like meeting preparation, time management, and in-meeting recommendations. Users can issue outcome-focused prompts to identify priorities, manage workloads, and streamline administrative work. The system adapts to user context by recognizing recent conversations and projects to provide tailored responses and suggestions.

Zoom has added a new work surface within web browsers and the Zoom Workplace desktop app to unify the AI experience. This surface adapts dynamically to deliver context-aware information and consolidate scattered data into useful insights.

Other updates to Zoom Workplace include real-time voice translation for meetings, lifelike meeting avatars, and the ability to create short clips from presentations. Zoom also announced support for the Model Context Protocol (MCP), which allows customers and developers to configure tools for custom workflows.

AI Companion 3.0 will be generally available in November 2025 at no extra cost for paid Zoom Workplace accounts. A Custom AI Companion add-on, priced at $12 per user per month, will let organizations build and deploy tailored AI agents.
