Acer has taken a bold step toward carbon neutrality by announcing its commitment to ensuring that its Aspire Vero laptop line, starting from the new Aspire Vero 16 (AV16-51P), is carbon neutral.
Following stringent international standards for calculating carbon footprints and achieving carbon neutrality, Acer has implemented measures at every stage of the device’s lifecycle to reduce its carbon footprint. High-quality carbon credits will be utilized to achieve carbon neutrality.
“To combat the growing challenges of climate change, Acer is introducing ‘conscious technology,’ prioritizing designs and manufacturing processes that consider the future,” Jerry Kao, COO of Acer Inc., said in a statement.

Kao also emphasized Acer’s corporate commitment with Acer joining the RE100 initiative with the aim of using 100% renewable electricity by 2035.
“We are dedicated to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050,” he said.
Since the series’ launch, Aspire Vero laptops have been meticulously designed with eco-consciousness in mind, aiming to minimize their carbon footprint throughout their lifecycle. From manufacturing and packaging to end-of-life recycling, each phase has undergone scrutiny and continuous refinement to contribute to emissions reduction. The latest iteration, Aspire Vero 16 (AV16-51P), showcases significant efforts:
• Color, Material, and Finish: The chassis incorporates over 60% recycled plastic (an increase from 30% in the initial generation), while its surface is devoid of volatile organic compounds, paint, or additives. Moreover, the touchpad utilizes ocean-bound plastic.
• Components: Featuring the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra processors known for enhanced power efficiency. The inclusion of Intel AI Boost, an integrated neural processing unit (NPU), brings new AI-powered capabilities with exceptional power efficiency.
• Packaging: Acer has taken steps to reduce the carbon footprint by recycling scrap material generated during production and employing 100% recyclable packaging. The thoughtful design enables easy repurposing of the 100% recycled FSC-certified paper box.
• Shipping: Collaborating with logistics partners, Acer has managed to decrease emissions from standard sea containers through the use of biofuel on various shipping routes.
• Usage: The AcerSense™ battery management software prioritizes energy efficiency through four performance modes: Eco+, Eco, Balanced, and Performance.
• Recycling and Repair: The use of standard screws ensures easy disassembly for repair, upgrade, or recycling purposes.
Upon implementing these emission reduction measures, Acer plans to utilize high-quality carbon credits to achieve carbon neutrality. Further details about the Acer Aspire Vero 16 will be unveiled in January at the Las Vegas event.
