What differentiates YouTube Music from the other streaming device is the seamless switch from audio to video.
YouTube Music, along with ad-free YouTube Premium, was officially launched in the Philippines. The app- and web-based music streaming offers a broad catalog of playlists from an endless list of artists and albums. It was officially launched earlier this month and joins the growing list of music streaming services including Apple Music, Deezer, Spotify, and Tidal, among others.
The unique proposition of YouTube Music is the seamless switching from audio to video (when available) in the app.

“We all have our own musical journeys that become the soundtrack of our lives,” said Gabby Roxas, head of Marketing of Google Philippines. “We want to play a part in terms of enhancing the digital music lifestyle of Filipinos. And we believe that YouTube Music is an integral part of music discovery.”
Roxas stressed the discoveries listeners will be able to find in YouTube’s wealth of music library.
Powered by Search feature lets users find a song by searching keywords or lyrics. The app is also enabled by voice command, which is something that could be helpful for motorists.
Using machine learning and algorithm, users will soon get their own personalized music recommendations based on their behaviors.
YouTube Music also offers smart download for the listeners’ current on-repeat playlist.
“There are certain situations where you probably have a spotty connection or you’re traveling,” explained Roxas. “So there’s an option within YouTube, especially in the Premium service where you can turn on smart downloads and allocate a certain amount of data on the phone.”
Turning on the Smart Download feature means listeners are giving the app the freedom to choose what songs to download based on their musical preferences.
“Youtube Music can be proactive in terms of helping you enjoy music even in situations when you’re not connected,” he said.
YouTube Music Premium is available in Individual (P129), Family (199), Student (P65). Pricing for iOS is much higher than those in Android devices.
The student plan needs an approved “SheerID” or a verification service that can be done on the Student Plan landing page for YouTube Music.
