Alibaba Cloud, the cloud unit of Alibaba Group, has introduced new security features to simplify the management of complex multi-cloud and hybrid cloud environments. The updates aim to address growing cybersecurity challenges as more organizations adopt diverse cloud infrastructures.
Alibaba Cloud’s Security Center now includes a Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) tool. This feature helps organizations monitor and maintain compliance across multiple cloud platforms. Previously limited to single-cloud setups, CSPM offers over 700 detection items and more than 100 one-click remediation options.
Data from Statista shows that 73% of enterprises use hybrid cloud setups, while the International Data Corp. (IDC) reports nearly 90% of Asia-Pacific enterprises operate in multi-cloud environments. These trends make managing security across platforms increasingly complicated.
“Alibaba Cloud Security provides CSPM capabilities in the Cloud Security Center product, offering over 700 detection items and over 100 one-click remediation configurations,” said Ouyang Xin, GM of Security Products, Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.
Threat detection and response
The Security Center also introduced Cloud Threat Detection & Response (C-TDR), enhancing its ability to detect, analyze, and respond to cyber threats. C-TDR integrates seamlessly with Alibaba Cloud’s products, providing a unified approach to security.
As cyber threats evolve, the Security Center uses Alibaba Cloud’s large language model (LLM), Qwen, to identify security risks and suggest actionable defenses. Ouyang emphasized the importance of robust security in AI systems.
“Effective information security measures help maintain AI’s reliability and ethical use, protecting individuals and organizations from potential risks,” he said.
To enhance edge security, Alibaba Cloud upgraded its Dynamic Content Delivery Network (DCDN). The new Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) feature provides advanced protection for distributed workloads, including DDoS protection, Web Application Firewall (WAF), and API security. ESA is especially beneficial for sectors like finance and e-commerce, ensuring secure, low-latency operations.
