AMD has appointed Vinay Awasthi as senior vice president, Sales for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ), to strengthen its regional efforts in high-growth markets driven by artificial intelligence (AI), cloud, and enterprise computing demand.
AMD, a high-performance and AI computing company, said Awasthi will lead sales strategy and execution across APJ, one of its fastest-expanding regions. The role covers cloud, enterprise, AI, commercial, and consumer segments, where demand for accelerated computing continues to grow as companies scale digital infrastructure.
Based in Singapore, Awasthi will oversee efforts to deepen customer engagement and strengthen relationships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and channel partners. AMD said his role will also focus on aligning go-to-market strategies across diverse markets in APJ, where technology adoption varies widely between mature and emerging economies.
Awasthi brings more than 20 years of global sales leadership experience. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Compute Sales at Qualcomm. Before that, he spent 21 years at HP, where he held senior leadership roles across regional and global markets, focusing on enterprise customers and partner ecosystems.
“I am excited to join AMD at such an important moment for both the company and the industry,” said Awasthi. “AMD’s broad portfolio of computing and AI solutions creates significant opportunities across the region. I look forward to working closely with our customers, partners, and teams across APJ to strengthen collaboration, align execution, and accelerate innovation and growth.”
Darren Grasby, executive vice president and chief sales officer of AMD, said the company expects Awasthi’s experience to support its regional expansion plans.
“We are thrilled to welcome Vinay to the team and are confident his leadership, expertise, and customer focus will drive meaningful impact across the region,” said Darren Grasby, executive vice president and chief sales officer of AMD.
AMD said the appointment indicates its continued investment in APJ as demand for AI workloads, cloud computing, and high-performance chips accelerates. The company is positioning its regional leadership structure to better support enterprise customers and partners as computing needs scale across industries.
