As mental health challenges grow among young Filipinos, more are turning to digital and AI-powered tools to manage stress, anxiety, and depression. AXA’s 2025 Mind Health Report shows that Filipinos aged 18 to 34 face some of the highest levels of mental health struggles globally, but are also leading the shift toward using self-help platforms.

“Because mental health is not just a personal issue, it’s a public one. And tackling it requires shared understanding, accessible tools, and sustained support,” said Ayman Kandil, CEO, AXA Philippines. “And while we still have a long way to address the gaps, know you can do something now and thrive with the right support.”

The AXA Mind Health Index identifies four stages of mental well-being: flourishing, getting by, languishing, and struggling. A large number of Filipino youth fall into the latter two categories, signaling the need for more accessible and relevant solutions.

A key finding from the report is that 39% of young Filipinos use AI-powered tools for mental health, which is well above the global average of 28%. Half of all Filipinos now seek help through digital channels such as websites, blogs, forums, and social media.

The report also reveals that nearly 7 out of 10 Filipinos experience some form of stress, anxiety, or depression. These rates are among the highest in the world. Financial instability and job insecurity are major contributors, affecting 76% of respondents, followed by fear about the future, loneliness, and climate-related worries.

With this backdrop, workplaces can play a vital role. The report calls on organizations to promote mental health literacy, encourage open conversations, and create safe spaces that support emotional well-being.
