Boomi, the data activation company for AI, has acquired Elementary Data to help businesses find and fix data problems before they affect AI agents, applications, and reports. The deal adds tools for checking data quality, tracking its source, and managing its use across the Boomi Enterprise Platform.

Elementary Data, a provider of the widely adopted data observability solution that powers every workflow and AI agent with reliable data, monitors whether information is current, complete, and usable. Its tools help data teams detect problems before faulty information reaches systems that use it to make decisions or take action.

“AI is only as trustworthy as the data behind it,” said Steve Lucas, chair and CEO of Boomi. “With Elementary, adopted by more than 1,500 data teams, with a ~4,000-member community, and downloaded over a million times a month, we’re adding the observability, quality, and governance layer that ensures the data activating our customers’ AI and agents is reliable, explainable, and enterprise-ready.”

The acquisition comes as businesses put AI agents into daily operations. These systems depend on the information they receive, making outdated or incorrect data a concern when software can act without someone checking every step.

A July 2026 Forrester Consulting study commissioned by Boomi found that 86% of leaders said their organizations had moved beyond AI agent pilots. However, only 34% said they trusted the actions those systems took. Organizations that deployed agents before they were ready reported an average of $2.1 million in added costs.

Elementary’s tools can flag unusual changes in data volume, quality, or freshness. They also trace individual data fields through different systems, helping teams identify where information came from and where a problem may have started.

A shared catalog records data ownership, labels, and health scores. An MCP server gives AI tools and agents access to information about the data’s context and condition. Elementary also offers AI agents that automate test creation, sort reported problems, and support data management.

Founded in 2022 as an open-source project, Elementary launched its cloud service in 2024 with added capabilities for enterprise customers. It reports more than 1.1 million monthly downloads.

The technology will complement Boomi’s Active Data Foundation, which moves and manages data while providing context to applications, devices, and agents.

“We started Elementary on a simple conviction: data teams deserved the same reliability tooling that software engineering teams have relied on for years. AI made that conviction urgent,” said Maayan Salom, CEO and co-founder of Elementary.
