Couchbase Inc., provider of a leading modern database for enterprise applications, announced the appointment of Stuart Fisher as regional vice president of Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) to strengthen the company’s presence and growth in the region.
Bringing almost two decades of experience in developing ground-breaking business strategies in the Asia Pacific (APAC), Fisher is adept at building teams that establish a strong presence and execute strategic engagement with customers and partners.
At Couchbase, Fisher will be responsible for the company’s overall go-to-market and expansion efforts to capitalize on the large database market as demand for Couchbase’s enterprise-class mult-icloud NoSQL database grows in APJ. As an accomplished business leader in Asia, Fisher brings to Couchbase deep experience with established technology companies, enabling focused growth, as well as a strong track record in leading partner, customer advocacy, and engagement teams in the fields of enterprise applications and security. At Couchbase, Fisher will take the lead on scaling operations to meet the demands of the market.
“Couchbase’s success, today, is rooted in our ability to critically support our customers’ and partners’ needs for growth,” Denis Murphy, SVP and CRO of Couchbase. “In Asia, this growth is more pronounced as the region pivots and transforms rapidly. Customers are demanding robust, scalable platforms to support their development agendas.”
Regional sales leader
“As Couchbase continues our journey to help organizations accelerate the innovation of their business-critical applications, we are confident that Stuart will help us accelerate our growth in the Asia Pacific and Japan as the region’s new lead. He has a wealth of experience in building and establishing high-performing customer and partner engagement teams for very established enterprises in Asia,” Murphy said.
In addition to his experience in high-growth technology companies, Fisher spent nearly six years as regional sales leader at SAP, as well as in strategic APAC leadership roles at Sybase, Sophos, Deep Instinct, and Kinetica.
“Today as Asia races to transform digitally, modern applications that are being built require a level of flexibility, agility, and cost-effective scaling. Attempting to deliver this in a traditional relational database environment will only hamper growth and delivery on success,” said Fisher. “Enterprises in Asia are choosing NoSQL databases while retaining the functionalities and capabilities of SQL in their development. Couchbase offers the robust capabilities and flexibility to support business-critical enterprise applications building at scale. It is an exciting time to be at Couchbase in Asia, especially working with customers and partners who are driving innovation and next-generation technologies.”
