Dell Technologies has announced the launch of the Dell AI Factory, a comprehensive initiative aimed at providing customers with access to an extensive (artificial intelligence) AI portfolio. This new offering includes devices, data centers, and cloud solutions, coupled with an open ecosystem of technology partners to support the creation of bespoke AI applications.

“AI is transforming business at an unprecedented pace,” said Jeff Clarke, vice chair and chief operating officer of Dell Technologies. “Data centers must be designed from the ground up to handle AI’s speed and scale while new AI PCs are transforming productivity and collaboration.”

Clarke emphasized the necessity for IT infrastructure and devices that are purpose-built to meet the specific demands of AI. He highlighted that the Dell AI Factory aims to help customers accelerate AI adoption by offering a broad AI portfolio and collaborations with leading AI ecosystem partners. This provides tailored approaches and greater control over AI deployments across on-premises, edge, and cloud environments.

Comprehensive AI infrastructure

The Dell AI Factory is built on Dell’s end-to-end AI portfolio, which includes client devices, servers, storage, data protection, and networking. Dell Technologies is enhancing this portfolio with new offerings designed to meet the growing demands of AI.

One of the key components is the introduction of Copilot+ PCs, powered by Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors, featuring new Microsoft AI experiences. These laptops are designed for professionals, offering built-in AI capabilities that significantly enhance performance and battery life. This allows users to efficiently manage tasks and workflows through local computing and processing across the GPU, CPU, and NPU.

Advanced data management and protection

Dell has also introduced the PowerScale F910 all-flash file storage, which addresses the needs of demanding AI workloads. It promises up to 127% improvement in performance and higher density. Also, the new Project Lightning software architecture will be integrated into PowerScale to accelerate training times for large-scale and complex AI workflows.

The Dell Solution for AI Data Protection helps customers safeguard critical AI applications and data, utilizing Dell’s data protection software, appliances, and a reference design to streamline deployment.

Enhanced networking capabilities

The expanded networking portfolio includes the Dell PowerSwitch Z9864F-ON, which doubles network performance for AI applications using the Broadcom Tomahawk 5 chipset. This solution is designed to deliver high throughput, low latency, and easy scalability for demanding networking environments. The Dell PowerEdge XE9680 supports Broadcom 400G PCIe Gen 5.0 Ethernet adapters, enabling greater performance, scalability, and efficiency.

Innovations in Dell’s Enterprise SONiC Distribution enhance AI performance, while SmartFabric Manager for SONiC software simplifies deployment, orchestration, and lifecycle management.

Partner ecosystem and services

Dell’s collaborations with leading ecosystem partners aim to simplify AI adoption. Dell is the first infrastructure provider to work with Hugging Face, offering optimized on-premises deployment of generative AI models. The Dell Enterprise Hub on Hugging Face allows organizations to train and deploy customized large language models securely on Dell infrastructure. This partnership accelerates time to value for AI applications like chatbots and customer support.

Dell’s ongoing collaboration with Meta facilitates the deployment of Meta Llama 3 models on-premises, providing test results, performance data, and deployment recipes. The Dell AI Solution for Microsoft Azure AI Services speeds up the deployment of AI services on the Dell APEX Cloud Platform for Microsoft Azure.

Expanded services portfolio

Dell is expanding its AI Professional Services to improve business outcomes from AI initiatives. Implementation Services for Microsoft Copilot solutions offer expert guidance on integrating Microsoft Copilots across various platforms, while Accelerator Services for Dell Enterprise Hub on Hugging Face provide strategic counsel on tool and model selection for rapid AI prototyping.

The Dell AI Factory with NVIDIA, first announced in March, now includes new server, edge, workstation solutions, and service advancements, further accelerating AI adoption by delivering integrated capabilities and pre-validated, full-stack solutions.
