Garmin, an activity trackers and sports watches brand, has announced the expansion of its FDA-cleared ECG App to the Philippines, making it available across its various smartwatch models. This app allows users to record their heart rhythm and check for signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib) directly from their smartwatch.
With the ECG App, users in the Philippines can now perform a 30-second electrocardiogram (ECG) and immediately view the results on their watch or later in the Garmin Connect smartphone app. This feature is compatible with the epix Pro series, fēnix 7 Pro series, Venu 2 Plus, Venu 3 series, and tactix 7 — AMOLED Edition smartwatches.
“We are pleased to bring the ECG App to even more of our users, including those with our flagship epix Pro and fēnix 7 Pro series smartwatches,” said Scoppen Lin, assistant general manager, Garmin Asia. “We take pride in offering premium health and wellness features across our smartwatch lineups and this tool that lets our users in the Philippines conveniently take an ECG recording when they want only adds to the suite of innovative features to help them stay on top of their health.”

Garmin Connect
To use the ECG App, users must ensure they have the latest versions of the Garmin Connect smartphone app and their smartwatch software. The Garmin Connect app, which is available for free on the App Store and Google Play Store, includes instructions for using the ECG feature.
The app uses sensors embedded in compatible smartwatches to record the electrical signals that control heart rhythm, providing users with accurate heart rate data and alerting them to any irregular heart rhythms. Users can also sync their results to Garmin Connect, where they can review their history and generate reports to share with healthcare providers.
