The Information Security Officers Group (ISOG) advanced its public sector cybersecurity mission through the second I AM SECURE 2023 Forum, held on Aug.10, 2023, at Dusit Thani Hotel. This year’s theme, “Strengthening Defenses: Continuing Digital Transformation,” focused on fortifying governmental and public sector cyber defenses in the era of digital change.

ISOG president Archie Tolentino emphasized the importance of support from information security professionals for the Philippines’ digital defense strategies, highlighting the continuous need to stay vigilant.

The event convened local and international decision-makers, C-suite executives, and cybersecurity experts. Keynote speaker Atty. John Henry Naga, commissioner of the National Privacy Commission, addressed data privacy empowerment in the Philippines. Guest speaker Vazir Joshua Querol, project director for Services at the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s National Government Data Center Project, shared updates on ongoing projects to enhance digital transformation.

Prominent figures from Titanium and Platinum sponsor companies delivered informative sessions. Topics ranged from cybersecurity architecture by Cisco’s Brian Cotaz to digital transformation implications by experts like Abhilash Purushothaman from Rubrik and Ching Ping Wong from Fortinet.

Artificial intelligence

A notable panel discussion, “Implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Today’s Digital Transformation Efforts,” moderated by Ricson Singson Que, President of SQrity Consulting, explored AI’s role in accelerating digital transformation.

In the afternoon, breakout sessions featured Gold and Silver sponsor speakers. Topics included secure authentication by Yubico’s Derek Lok and technological solutions by Justin Eric Rivera from Trellix.

The event fostered networking opportunities, enabling participants to engage in informative exchanges. ISOG VP Chito Jacinto stressed the importance of staying up-to-date and connected in the industry.

ISOG’s future endeavors include the ISOG Conference in October at Shangri-la at the Fort, along with a donation drive and corporate social responsibility project in December.
