Synology has added the DP7200 to its ActiveProtect line, offering a new data protection option for businesses handling various workloads, such as servers, virtual machines, databases, and Microsoft 365 data across multiple locations.

“With ActiveProtect, our vision is to create a unified solution by integrating both hardware and software capabilities for businesses of all sizes looking to streamline data protection,” said Jia-Yu Liu, executive vice president at Synology.

The DP7200 works as either a main management server or a standalone backup appliance. It runs on ActiveProtect Manager, Synology’s built-in operating system, and offers a storage capacity of up to 84 TB.

One of its key features is centralized data visibility, allowing IT teams to view up to 150,000 workloads and monitor 2,500 sites in one dashboard. This includes all backup activities, copies, and archived files.

The DP7200 also includes tools designed to defend against ransomware and other threats. Users can apply access controls, enforce data isolation, and use multi-factor authentication through Active Directory, LDAP, or SAML 2.0. These functions help ensure that only authorized users can access protected data and that clean, restorable copies remain available.

To help businesses meet long-term storage needs, the DP7200 supports on-premises and cloud-based backups. Built-in data deduplication reduces storage space requirements while keeping backup processes efficient and aligned with compliance needs.

The DP7200 is part of Synology’s push to offer scalable data protection tools for both central offices and remote branches, supporting organizations in managing and securing their digital assets.
