Digital banking competition in the Philippines continues to push banks to expand access beyond traditional branches, with UnionBank of the Philippines adding more than 2,100 ECPay kiosks nationwide as additional cash deposit points for customers.
The partnership allows UnionBank customers to deposit cash into peso savings and checking accounts through ECPay kiosks located in convenience stores, supermarkets, malls, and community centers. The kiosks are available in locations such as Alfamart, Puregold, Lawson, O! Save, and Puremart.
The move addresses a common challenge among Filipinos who still rely heavily on cash transactions, particularly small business owners, freelancers, and workers who may not have easy access to bank branches during operating hours.
Customers can deposit up to ₱10,000 per transaction, with deposits posted in realtime. Funds can immediately be used for bills payments, transfers, online purchases, and other daily expenses.
“UnionBank continues to design services around how our customers live and work today,” said Albert Raymond Cuadrante, chief marketing and experience officer of UnionBank. “With ECPay kiosks, we expand access to cash deposit services and provide greater convenience so banking services are easier to reach as part of customers’ everyday routines.”
The bank said the expanded deposit network gives customers more flexibility to handle transactions outside regular banking hours, including evenings and weekends.
“Our partnership with UnionBank reinforces ECPay’s commitment to bringing essential financial services closer to Filipinos,” said Patricia Pascual, president and CEO of ECPay. “By making cash deposits available at thousands of kiosks nationwide, we help customers maximize their time and manage their money more conveniently any day, anytime.”
UnionBank said the kiosk network complements its existing branches and ATM network while helping bring banking services closer to residential communities and workplaces.
