Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) account for 99.5% of businesses in the Philippines and employ more than 60% of the workforce, yet many continue to face challenges such as limited access to financing, cash flow issues, and complex administrative requirements.

Security Bank is working to address these gaps through its Business Banking Segment (BBS), which was launched in 2022 to provide entrepreneurs with financing, multi-channel access, and advisory support. The initiative is supported by investments in platforms, partnerships, and talent aimed at making business banking more responsive to day-to-day operations.

As of March 2025, loans extended to MSMEs under BBS reached ₱21 billion, up from ₱14 billion in the previous year.

“By removing friction from everyday transactions and offering proactive guidance, we help MSMEs focus on what matters most: growing their business,” said John David Yap, executive vice president and head of the Business Banking Segment of Security Bank.

The Bank’s DigiBanker platform provides MSMEs with tools for payroll, tax remittances, supplier payments, and receivables management. It is designed to streamline manual tasks and improve financial visibility, giving entrepreneurs faster access to credit with fewer documentation requirements. Security Bank is also preparing to launch a dedicated MSME app that builds on DigiBanker’s features to provide easier access to services.

To support growing businesses with more complex needs, Security Bank introduced the Business Elite Program. This initiative offers preferential rates, waived fees, data-driven insights, and access to a dedicated relationship manager.

“We developed the Business Elite Program with a clear focus on the needs of our high-value MSME clients to provide them with the right mix of financial and operational tools to support their growth,” Yap said.

Through its Beyond Banking network, the Bank also connects MSMEs with partner organizations. MSMEs under the Business Elite Program also receive non-life insurance through PhilBritish Insurance, covering property, liability, theft, fraud, and telemedicine support.
