In 2023, visa applications from the Philippines soared past pre-pandemic levels, marking a 35% increase compared to 2019, according to the latest data from VFS Global.
This surge signals a resurgence in traveler confidence and a relaxation of travel restrictions. VFS Global reported a 48% growth in visa applications from the Philippines in 2023, compared to the previous year.
“We are confident that this positive travel momentum will be sustained in 2024 as well and we will surpass the pre-pandemic visa application volumes this year,” said Kaushik Ghosh, head – Australasia, VFS Global. “We urge applicants planning to travel overseas from the Philippines to apply for their visas in advance to avoid the last-minute rush.”

Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland emerged as the top destinations for travelers from the Philippines in 2023.
Premium services
Personalized services saw strong demand in 2023, with an uptick in bookings for the Visa At Your Doorstep (VAYD) service, allowing applicants to complete the process remotely. VAYD service bookings doubled compared to 2019, covering 11 countries. VFS Global offers Mobile Visa Application Centre (MVAC) facilities for 11 countries, enhancing customer convenience and security.
Premium services, such as the Premium Lounge, offering personalized assistance, and Prime Time, enabling application submissions beyond regular hours, experienced increased adoption since the onset of the pandemic.
